Notice Who Is Near

Many opportunities for kindness arrive without announcing themselves. They look like the quiet person at the edge of the room, the tired employee, the neighbor carrying groceries, or the friend whose “I’m fine” sounds a little different today. Busyness can make us pass by people we would have noticed if our hearts were less hurried.

Kindness begins with attention. Before it gives anything, it sees. Jesus noticed people others overlooked, and His attention restored dignity before He ever addressed a need. Your kindness may not solve someone’s entire problem, but it can communicate, “You matter. You are seen. You are not alone.”

Ask the Holy Spirit to interrupt your routine with someone else’s need. The interruption may be the assignment. A smile, a held door, a patient response, a meal, or a few unhurried minutes can become holy when offered with love.
