Goodness is more than being pleasant. It is the courage to choose what is right, honest, and merciful even when a shortcut would be easier. Many compromises begin small: a truth softened to protect our image, a responsibility avoided, or an unkind action justified because someone “deserved it.” Repeated often enough, small compromises shape the person we are becoming.
The Fruit of goodness brings our private choices into agreement with the heart of God. It asks us to do what is right when no one is watching and to remain humble when someone is. Goodness does not need a spotlight. Its reward is the integrity of a life that can stand in the light.
Today may offer a quiet opportunity to choose goodness: returning what is not yours, admitting a mistake, keeping a confidence, or following through on something you promised. Do not underestimate that moment. What you practice today becomes the Fruit you carry forward.
